Milk

When I was little, milk came in bottles like this. They had a little card board top. My grandpa would take me to "Hoags dairy farm" where we would buy our milk. It always smelled like cows there. They make ice cream too. Grandpa would always buy me some. My favorite ice cream is a small twist: chocolate and vanilla.

Some days are just for getting things done. I love busy days! As soon as you wake up suddenly the day feels fresh and new, and you feel urged to open all the windows , as if everything depended on letting in the sunshine . You feel you just have to hurry round and Organize Something, like dresser drawers or for Writing a to do list Signed "Mom". A beautiful sort of day, when everybody says "Yes, mommy" and "No, mommy," and waits until you tell them whats next on the list. It is a perfect morning for saying "put it in the box" and "someone find the broom," and then going to the kitchen and saying "oh, here it is." You can't help respecting anybody who can keep a clean house, even if it's not clean for long; but cleaning isn't everything. There are days when a clean house simply doesn't count; like when you know there is nobody coming to visit.

What to Teach Children

It is important to teach children to work. They can look at what they have accomplished and say, "I did a good job." Children should help their mothers and fathers by doing their own laundry, setting the table and cleaning up afterwards.. Always do your best! "Some one is always watching us. " Whether you do good things or bad.

Canning

Canning is a lot of work. I mostly make pickles. But my best thing to can was jam. Grape, strawberry and blueberry! It is very good on toast.

Collecting is Fun!

I use to collect baskets when I was first married. Collecting is fun. Everybody collects something that they like. After time they may lose interest, and start collecting something else. Animals also collect things. Squirrels like nuts. Birds collect string and twigs. What do you like to collect?
